We have now completed the first part of our preseason training in Spain. We started off on the 8th of January, setting the bases for aerobic work in Mallorca, and then on the 22nd we moved to Marbella, to continue with physical, technical and tactical training. We played two friendly matches, against Marbella and Granada, using different line-ups and combinations, and we also found time to visit the Alhambra, where the players enjoyed the beauty of its Arabic patios, halls and gardens. The training was tough, but all the players showed great attitude. Lastly, we travelled to Madrid, to close the preseason with a session in Real Madrid’s training grounds and a visit to Santiago Bernabéu Stadium. We saw the trophy hall, the first team’s changing rooms and even walked onto the pitch, where the players took pictures.
All in all, we have completed about 50 training sessions and covered the main objectives. We still have the second part of the preseason ahead of us, which will take place in Shanghai starting on February 11th, once the squad has had a few days of well-earned rest to enjoy Chinese New Year.
We have also signed a player with international experience, Fredy Guarín, who comes from Italy’s highly competitive Serie A league, and whose talent will help to reinforce our midfield. He is a great player and our fans are sure to enjoy his contribution to the team. Now he just needs a few training sessions, so he can gradually settle in to the squad’s dynamic.
Happy Chinese New Year!!!
All the best,
Gregorio Manzano Ballesteros
